I received this JP via a trade. The other party had just purchased the guitar from Fullers Guitar 3 months ago. It was to be an investment piece. The guitar was shipped to him sealed in the factory case, unopened, and inside another box for safety. He never opened the box. I, on the other hand, opened Pandora's box. Oh My Goodness!!! The JP is absolutely incredible! As a Gibson afficianado, I have a deep love for these guitars. The guitar was carefully examined and photographed to document its exact condition as well as factory setup. The origional strings which are of average quality were removed and carefully bound and stored. In their place were installed Thomastic Infeld Powerbrights 10-45, the ultimate string for this guitar. The setup was carefully checked for ideal action and intonation, stretched in and played for 3 hours to insure perfect performance. I had no intention of keeping this guitar as I have 2 other guitars on hold. I only agreed to the trade to help make the other guitars come "home". That being said, this was a terribly difficult decision to make as this JP is just phenomenal. The circuit for pickup selection is really user friendly on these guitars. The toggle switch that normally selects bridge, neck or both is modified to be a 6 position switch. To the left is the normal selection. To the right brings in the middle pickup, either bridge/middle, all 3, or middle/neck. Add to that you have a coil tap for the bridge pickup which is a push/pull tone pot for the bridge P/U. This arrangement gives amazing tone flexability for live playing or studio wanking. The tapped bridge in the bridge/middle setting with OD boost is going to ROCK YOUR WORLD! The untapped bridge by itself is simply "Hoily Grail" tone. You will not want to leave this position! That's enough of the technical stuff. This is a killer guitar.
